Coping With A Family Member’s Brain Injury
June 25th, 2009 | Author: poochMost people never think that your life will change when you get up in the morning to go to work, because I believe that today will be the same as any other, since they are taking their first coffee of the day, eat some toast and reading the paper as they do every morning. Never think that everything can change in a single moment.
My wife was driving to work one morning late last year and a delivery truck skidded on ice, hitting his car fifteen feet on the street in a wall. She survived, but with a 10 degree with a traumatic brain injury that caused him to lose most of their motor function. Obviously, our family was devastated by this but was just glad she was alive.
Unless they have an income at home with her and that requires much attention, things soon became difficult for us financially. Sure what to do, talked to a friend suggested I meet with a lawyer to seek compensation for any carrier that uses the driver that is responsible for brain injury.
Aunque yo no estaba demasiado interesado en pasar por el proceso legal y demandar a alguien, especialmente si se convirtió en un largo, dibujado batalla, mi familia necesita asistencia financiera y me sentí que necesitábamos algunas respuestas también, de modo que me puse en contacto con about a law firm who said that personnel, spine and brain injuries. The first consultation is free and instantly I felt comfortable with the lawyer speaking – he had clearly tried many of these situations before and seemed to rely on the case and sympathy to my family and I were going through.
By the time he had left his office, which organized the financial support of my family and some of the calls were made about having a nurse in our home a few days a week to care for my wife and have a little of the strain off of me. Before they had even begun the judicial process, I felt that things would improve soon. While my wife was not going to fully recover from his brain injury, knowing that we were not going to struggle while proceedings were ongoing and had a good chance of winning the case, it really helped to focus on rebuilding our family and moving beyond this tragedy.
